TV series: Should 'Veronica Mars' stay on the air?

Yes, Veronica Mars' should stay on the air. It is definitely one of the best shows on television.

Veronica Mars' debuted on UPN in September 2004. When The WB and UPN merged into the CW, Veronica Mars was given then timeslot after Gilmore Girls', a perfect combination for most fans. The show even tweaked its trademark format of a season long mystery choosing instead to have three smaller mysteries in an effort to allow viewers who missed the first part of the season to still fully enjoy the show. The change worked and the ratings went up, unfortunately, they still did not meet the expectations of the CW.

But so what? This is a show with a cult following that grows bigger everyday as more people discover the show on DVD. Not only is it funny, but it full of twists and turns. Just when you think you know who did it, the show reveals a new twist and you realize you have no idea who is responsible. To cancel a show that is this entertaining is a crime in itself.

Veronica Mars' also stands out as being one of the few shows on TV that provides girls with a strong female role model. Veronica is pretty, but she is also smart. She enjoys exploring her passions of detective work and photography, but puts just as much emphasis on doing well in school.

And while, Veronica Mars' is a great show with a strong female lead; the main reason it should stay on the air is the potential of the show. Yes, the move from Neptune High to Hearst College changed the show, but Veronica had to graduate. This is a character with too much story left to tell. One option that was discussed was skipping college and having the show come back in the Fall with Veronica starting out as an FBI agent. This change would allow the show to reinvent itself letting it keep all of its good parts, while switching up elements that have become stale. And even though Veronica was working for the FBI, it wouldn't mean that she never saw anyone from Neptune. A number of guest appearances could be written in for most of the current characters.

Whether it remains at Hearst College or moves to FBI Headquarters, Veronica Mars' is a show that deserves to remain on the air.
