We all agree that the zombies in movies today are scary, but when the question of which is most effective comes into play you have to weigh the facts.
Slow zombies shamble about- making it easy for most to escape their grasp unscathed. You can push past them, shove them down, hit them with blunt objects ect. and manage to get away. But as with most things, the rules of attrition apply. Get enough slow zombies in one place and you have absolutely no possible chance of escaping with your life. They are strong but slow undead thugs that aren't very bright. They rely on the basest on instincts to lead them to their prey. All you really need is a good fire and a tire iron and you're set to survive the zombie apocalypse.
Fast zombies are obviously faster; therefor it is easy to see where their superiority lies. Like slow zombies they have no feeling of pain whatsoever, so they can push past normal human limitations. Not only do they have insane strength, they are lightning fast death on two legs making these creatures are far superior than slow zombies.
I know that I wouldn't be able to outrun them. Just imagine how fast you could run if your body wasn't screaming at you to slow down because you were pulling muscles and killing your knee-joints.
You put one fast zombie in an environment and their numbers multiply like crazy in an epidemic of apocalyptic proportions. It is far easier to see a slow zombie coming and be able to act and get yourself out of harms way, but with the fast zombies, the moment you notice they're coming at you it's already too late. Your only chance is to run and pray to God that you can make it to safety.
Fast zombies are not only quick to the chase, they are clever as well. They can climb, break into places far easier than slow zombies, and have multiple ways of spreading their curse or "infection" if you will. And as opposed to slow zombies they respond instantly to auditory stimuli. All one has to do is yell out "Hello?" and they'll perk up like hunting dogs and soon be howling after you as they run you down.
Slow zombies can only spread by biting or scratching a victim and piercing their skin. In recent movies fast zombies can vomit blood into the face of a victim, instantaneously creating another one of the running undead monstrosities out for human flesh. As long as their tainted blood gets into the body by means of an opening on the body- whether it is naturally there or not- you have no chance whatsoever of surviving and become one of the running dead in a heart beat.
So, it is easy to come to a conclusion. The faster zombies are by far more effective. They spread insanely quick through a population, they chase their prey and devour them in a blink of an eye, they can create vast numbers of themselves in an extremely short period of time that leaves the rest of the living running and screaming in terror.
Remember: All it takes is one drop of tainted blood to get into your bloodstream and you're a goner.
