How to decide to work from home

Working from home, what a decision! There are so many advantages and disadvantages you will have to weigh them all up to find your answer.

No Boss - well that's a plus. However you have to learn to motivate yourself, only you can push yourself to meet deadlines - a minus.

No chats at the water-cooler, more work done - a plus. There again you have to be firm with telephone callers, friends and family who think you are available in the daytime - a minus.

Work hours to suit you, or to use the Internet saying, work in your pajamas - a plus. Until you realize the project you are working on is still not done, it's 3a.m. and you are literally working in your pj's. The office door never closes, you do actually put in far more hours than the 9-5 routine - a minus.

Earn more money, no traveling, save on transport costs. If you are working for yourself then yes you can earn money if you put the hours in - a plus. However you are working in your home, electricity, gas, telephone, home insurance, postage, stationary costs. All expenses to pay out, not all can be reclaimed back. - a minus.

I personally choose to work from home and yes for me it works. It is a lonely life, but I'm not a loner. Make sure you get out to see friends frequently. I love the way I can work when I want to. I do go out in the daytime but I'm happy to work until very late at night. But it is a decision you have to weigh up for yourselves, it is not for everyone. I wish you Good Luck if you decide to go ahead.
