Is drug abuse encouraging crime

Drug abuse can be directly linked to crime. Addiction to Crack Cocaine would be listed at the top for drugs related to crime.

Crack Cocaine is easily manufactured, thereby making it cheap and easily accessible for the average person. Crack Cocaine is also a very highly addictive drug. The person using the Crack Cocaine experiences a high; a sense of euphoria - a very addicting euphoria. After that first time they want to experience it again. No matter how many times they use the drug they never get that same feeling: they become addicted. They no longer want the drug, they need the drug.

A typical addict, without intervention, will begin by spending their money until it's all gone. If they are employed, tools from their job become missing. If they're unemployed, personal belongings get sold or traded for the drug. Some even get into prostitution: selling themselves for money or Crack.

When the addicts personal resources are gone, they reach out to family and friends. Often times stealing from their own family members or borrowing. When the family and friends dry up, they resort to stealing. Stealing whatever they can take to the pawn shop or corner drug dealer for quick money and a quick trip to their dealer.

The end result of drug abuse, without intervention,is a higher crime rate in the area of prostitution, theft, burglaries, and more.
