Be smart by being chic, fresh and alert.
It isn't about being able to calculate an equation without the tools of the trade, or about how someone else defines your intelligence; it's about feeling confident, having current knowledge and noticing opportunities to shine.
"Be Chic"
It's better to be heard, then forgotten. From this point forward you are a confident, desirable person. It isn't about letting someone else define how smart you are, it's about feeling good about yourself, and presenting yourself in such a way; Physically and mentally stay trendy, and stay positive.
"Be Fresh"
There's a reason why your newspaper comes to your doorstep; and although you skim over the five o'clock news and you click past today's headlines, they still serve a purpose; to inform and to keep your knowledge current.
A simple step towards feeling smart, is being fresh. It's time to be the person in your office that not only knows but understands what's happening in the world; because what's happening today effects tomorrow. Staying current not only gives you the opportunity to be smart, but with each current event comes the chance to express yourself.
"Be Alert"
While most days you find yourself in the background of each conversation, instead of zoning out decide to participate. Try to pick out the words that make sense to you, and have the confidence to give insight. Talk more about the things you know so later you can sit back and listen to the facts you aren't sure of.
Regardless, the "know-it-all" in the office and the class "honor student" may know the facts, but you have the confidence, insight and tools to shine in the conversation.
