I came to my career through trial and error. The trials were all the odd jobs that I managed to perform to make ends meet. I am one that thinks that even if you are doing a crappy job- do it to your best potential. I took tickets at a movie theater where 13 year olds made out during the afternoon features, I waited tables at a BarBQ restaurant that offered free beer- this often lead to drunk men stammering out orders with western music blaring. I then became a CNA- this profession is one that deserves more respect, I took care of elderly people emotionally and physically. After that it was off the Cracker Barrel where I waited tables to put myself through school and I achieved my degree. I was never one of those people that are driven. I had hopes and dreams but I always had confidence that things would happen to me in due time. I always felt like I was achieving something even if I wasn't necessarily considered successful by the majority of the public. I believe that we have a path and if we let ourselves make mistakes and let ourselves be humbled by a crummy job, then when we do make headway into the life that we dream for, we can be proud, coming from the bottom to the top is an achievement, no matter what your bottom is defined as or your top, take time to enjoy the journey.
