I strongly disagree with the statement. The sentence that states this phrase "The youths of today are not ready for the challenges of tomorrow" reeks of ignorance, and unjust grouping of all teenagers.
Technology has been rapidly improving since the last century and has quadrupled its efforts in the last decade. The world is getting smaller with the invention of the World Wide Web and airplanes that flies to every part of the world. Teenagers grow up in this rapidly changing landscape, and it is by right that they should be the most adaptable to changes. If it is changes that rule the future, it would therefore be the survivor of the fittest. Who better than the era's children to be the fittest?
With practically new inventions and new discoveries every day, it is natural that teenagers begin to have high expectations of themselves and the economy. This competitive streak will allow them to stay afloat in today's society, and be the strongest. Challenges and problems come in every shape and size, and sometimes are of a much bigger basis than of decades past. Sophisticated technology allows for mass destruction and the fear of terrorism weakens the world. Teenagers, to put in crudely, are getting used to these. If they are used to these, how can they not be all right or even better at handling future problems?
It's always the question of the survival of the fittest. Usually, the teenagers are younger, fitter and more adaptable to the changing societies and economies. How then, can it be possible that the youths of today are not ready for the challenges of tomorrow? They will, and they will rise up a brand new generation. Therefore, the kids today will be the future's hope.
