Australia has a little something for everyone, regardless of age, interests and how long you have to visit. You can certainly find a little bit of everything here, from sun and surf, to snow, shopping, cultural experiences and so much more. It would be impossible to see all of what Australia has to offer within a couple of weeks, but here are some suggestions that may help you decide what you most want to see while visiting this beautiful country.
For many visitors, the tropical weather and beaches of Queensland are by far a must see. The Gold Coast is Queensland's laid-back beach city, with everything you need for a relaxing summer holiday. There are of course beaches to enjoy, resturants offering every cusine you could imagine, and tourist attractions that make for a bit of everything in this popular city. If you fancy something a little different, why not visit Ripley's Believe It Or Not, or perhaps the Wax Museum. Or perhaps your tastes are more extreme, so go have some fun with some bungee jumping or jet skiing. You can also experience all of the Gold Coasts theme parks here, with Movieworld, Seaworld, Dreamworld and the two water parks, Wet and Wild and White Water World. Or go for a trip to the Australian Outback Spectacular where you can enjoy an outback show with horses and stunts, all while enjoying a great Aussie meal.
Or perhaps you would prefer to see the tropics, hot all year round and right alongside the Great Barrier Reef. Cairns is the best destination in tropical north Queensland, right towards the top of Australia. Here you can enjoy the beautiful rainforrests of Port Douglas, or go for a train trip or skyrail into the mountains at Kuranda. A must see is also a glass bottom boat ride, or a scuba diving trip out to the Great Barrier Reef, where you can try your luck at finding Nemo.
If tropical and hot is not so much your idea of a perfect holiday, try the South of the border, in Canberra or Tasmania, and even in Victoria, where you will find snow and endless options for skiing and snowboarding in winter. Try Thredbo or Mt Buller for great ski locations, or just enjoy the beautiful scenary of Tasmania, with its lush bushland and mountains.
Maybe you are looking for a cultural experience. If so, Melbourne or Sydney can offer exactly that, with people of all nationalities uniting to make for a uniqe travel experience. They are also the shopping districts of Australia, with fantastic variety of shops and resturants to try.
If it is tourist attractions you are after, then do not miss a chance to see the Sydney Harbour Bridge or the famous Opera house. Sydney is a city filled with history, and you can see a lot of it in a couple of days, because of their exceptional public transport situation. Jump on a bus, then a train, then a ferry and end your day with a trip around the city on a monorail. Also make sure you get up to Centerpoint Tower for a view of the entire city.
For a more isolated experience, do not bypass the Northern Territory, for its true Australian outback and well known Ayers Rock. Here you can have a taste of the history of Australia, learning more about the Aboriginies and their lifestyle.
Overall, there are more places to see in Australia than can possibly fit into one article, so come see for yourself!
