The Gold Coast is easily one of the most family friendly desintations in the world. It is also one of Australia's most popular tourist desintations, located right along the coast of Queensland, just above the New South Wales border.
The Gold Coast has sights to see and things to do for all age groups. For most of us, it is the appeal of the sandy beaches and tropical weather during summer. This is certainly what the Gold Coast is best known for, with swimming and surfing being among the favourite activities for tourists and locals alike.
However, the Gold Coast is also home to a lot of other great tourist features. If you are travelling with your family, take some time to enjoy the home of Australia's theme parks, with Movieworld, Seaworld and Dreamworld all situated within close proximity. Or if it is water parks that you're looking for, to cool off during the hot Queensland summers, there are also Wet and Wild and the newest addition, White Water World, both filled with exciting water rides and attractions. You may also like to have a night out at the Australian Outback Spectacular, which is a dinner show giving you a taste of life in the Australian outback, complete with animals and stunts while you enjoy a great Aussie meal.
Right in Surfers Paradise, the heart of the Gold Coast, take your time to enjoy the wide variety of resturant options, with every type of cusine you can imagine. There is also a large game arcade and a bowling alley, right in the centre. Or if something a bit more unique is more your style, go for a visit to Ripleys Believe It Or Not, or the Gold Coast Wax Museum. You can even bungee jump at the local bungee centre, or stick to mini golf if you are not a fan of the exteme. Gold Coast is also home of its own Hard Rock Cafe, so if you are in the midst of making a collection, be sure to add this stop to your holiday.
For myself, I am from Queensland and have been to the Gold Coast on many occassions, including last night to watch the local football tradition of the State of Origin. Over the years on our various stays at the Gold Coast, my partner and I have done all of the mentioned activities, minus the bungee jump, and the Gold Coast never ceases to give us something new to enjoy on our holidays. Whether it be a short break or a long one, the Gold Coast has something for everyone.
