The problem with most people's idea of minimum wage being not fair is that they look at it as a punishment. Not true. In order to be successful, one must be motivated to work past minimum wage jobs. Think about college. Get an education. With an education there are many more possibilities for someone to "make it." Don't have the money for college? If people saved some money for a while (a short while) they can pay the registration fee and get a student loan. Once in school, a student can look into scholarships and grants for free money. Don't want to go to school? Fine. Work that minimum wage job with some ambition and get promoted. The problem isn't minimum wage. The problem is that most people "stuck" on minimum wage can't see past a low income. Success takes a lot of hard work and sacrifice, but if people in bad financial situations don't have the ambition to excel there's no matter of raising the bar to help them. As a student and a taxpayer, I can't condone or endorse another financial hardship such as an increase to minimum wage. Where do you think the money comes from?
