And the 2006 2007 NBA season has ended with the Cleveland Cavs falling to the may I say, "dynasty" of the San Antonio Spurs, but already we begin to look at next year. Coaching changes, trades, free agents, and all the rest, but the one thing that is always waited for impatiently by basketball fans around the globe is the day of the NBA Draft.
The draft always is always dramatic, always carriers suprises, and is always entertaining. Teams build their futures or add on to their contending teams. This year two teams will have the chance to draft a player that could change their success for years to come. Two freshman, both played exceptional at the college level, and both enter the NBA Draft with high expectations, but which will be the better player? Who will effect the outcome of a game the most? I think the obvious answer is the Freshman of Ohio State, Greg Oden. Durant is still a good player, and will do well in the NBA, but he just isn't Oden. He is very scrony, he is a 6 foot 7 inch toothpick, who will not be able to physically keep up with larger small forwards. He does have a great shot, and he can make a good drive, but he isn't an outstanding rebounder, he doesn't play the greatest of defense, and he is just another wingmen. A wingmen who won't be a Kobe, a Lebron, or T-mac, an Allstar, most likley, but not a superstar. Oden on the other hand is a big man, you don't find many good big men in the NBA anymore, and you rarley find anyones worth much comming out of college, Oden is one of those guys who comes around every now and then, a big man who has game to go with his size. He is quick to get up and down the floor, he has geat hands, he can rebound, his defence is astonishing, he can block shots, he's versatile with both hands, he plays big in the paint, he's strong, he shoots freethrows very well, and he is big, his presence alone will change games, add the skill to that, and it's scary.
