Beauty pageants obsolete? I wish.

Maybe the traditional televised talent, speech, & swim suite competitions where Miss Texas always wins are over. But are they still lingering in the hearts of those who grew up with them? Who will raise and do raise daughters today? What about the families that pageants were a tradition, a rite to passage, or a long sought accomplishment and the ultimate projection of the perfect woman and wife.

The southern influence also exists. Those of you who can persuade me otherwise please inform me of my ignorance into thinking more clearly, openly, and affectionately to this part of our culture.

For instance my blond perfectly thin neighbor down the hall recently moved from the south (over a year ago) & is affected by the culture of being introduced by full name & influence of family heritage. "You are who your family is or equivalent to the prestige of your last name & family roots.

We are in our thirties, my neighbor & I, & on the west coast of the United States. In my opinion we are as free as free can get, why create barriers? This poor women brags about being part of Debbie's Twirlers with an accent like she is sipping tea with manners & perfect perfection as if she's at high tea and someone cares. Each to their own and let them be, but these people directly live in my life insult, & treat me as if I have serious problems for craving knowledge an outsider for not wanting to be the picture of the ideal. By why is that so rare to pursue knowledge & love & enjoy it more unfortunately than any lover I have ever met?
Can't we love, be beautiful, and be in love and still love our lives, seek understanding and education? Openly talk about finance among one another and discuss tips and ideas like the rest of the world?

Instead most of us feel insulted by the topic, and then cry equal pay. Start with ourselves ladies. The world will never be different and the beauty pageants will never be over until we are ready as females to face the facts, learn the facts, take responsibility, and then we'll be invited fully and completely indoors. A lot of us have forgotten or do not know how to earn respect (in the business and world sense.. not Scarlet O'Hara). Worse some of us become Scarlet O'Hara in business! It gets us by, but does it really help us get over the whole equality, beauty pageant thing? NO.

The worst part is that like my neighbor these women are the majority & impressionable, influential with style & manners,
