The possibility of finding a cure for AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome) is nearly impossible, not because scientists are not researching enough to find a cure, but because of what AIDS is. It is a virus. Virus cannot be cured because they mutate. They can be treated and controlled; however to defeat a virus is virtually impossible. At least currently, it is virtually impossible. In ten years, there is the possibility that they might find something new. However currently, the chances of AIDS being cured are slim to none.
A bacterium, though, can be cured. People tend to confuse a virus and a bacterium because they both cause sickness. A bacterium is the same no matter what. You take antibiotic and it will take care of the bacterium. It’s not the same with AIDS because it, unfortunately, changes based on what it attacking it. Send one antibiotic in and it will mutate and then be immune to it. It’s evolution and it’s why AIDS can never truly be destroyed. Things adapt and virus do it much quicker.
