I work in the hotel industry and every major hotel uses key cards now. I have some hlpful tips for people out there. First- do not place your key card near a cell phone or anything with a magnet. It WILL demagnatize the card and you will not gain acces to your room. This means another trip to the front desk to get your card rekeyed.Ask the front desk if the have a card holder for your keys. They normally do. Second- a common misconception people have is that it contains your personal information. This is wrong. The encoder does not store any information except your room number and length of stay. No one will ever get any information about if your card is lost or stolen. Most key cards on the front of the card has the hotels logo or some sort of advertising.I hoe this helps those of you who are traveling alot this summer.
