Reflections: Workplace humor

The office is the source of unending humor. Take the elevator. Why is it that, if you get on the elevator and push the button for the fifth floor, the next guy to get on the elevator will push the five button also? What is he trying to do? Tell the elevator how many people are headed up? Maybe he's just so important he feels like the elevator will want to know what he's doing. Maybe he thinks the elevator is somehow in touch with the fifth floor. "Uh yes, five? I've got three pushers on board now. You'd better get ready."

There's also one guy in my building who gets on and pushed the button several times real quickly. How's the elevator supposed to react to this? "Okay. I'm bringing people up to three, seven and nine. Oh, and ten, better get ready. That guy who likes to jack me off is on his way up."
