How to advertise your blog or website for free

Placing banners and links can sometimes be expensive, if like most of us your budget is low you should look towards free ways of marketing yourself.

Banana-slug.com is a website where you can simply upload an image or banner or anything you like for free and it will be displayed on the front page along with the others, there is never any charge from this. As it is a new website and traffic is still low, it's a good idea to get your link up there now. That way it will stay up for much longer, however even when the page is full and your link is replaced, you can simply upload it again.

What is Banana-Slug.com
Banana-Slug.com is a website where you can advertise your blog, product, website, in-fact you can advertise anything you like here, if you go to the advertise page you can upload an image or banner and specify a website for the ad to link to. If you do not have a banner you can also specify up to 20 words of text to act as a link, although I do recommend an image for maximum effectiveness. But most importantly of all....It's completely free!

Ok...so what's the catch?
None, placing your advert on our site is completely free. All I ask is that you kindly place a link to my site on your blog or website, this isn't a requirement just a friendly request. Eventually when the site has gained popularity, maybe 100,000 hits each month, you will be able to pay to place an add in the header. However the bulk of the page will always be free to advertise on. So all in all, you have nothing to lose!

How long will my advert be on the page for?
I will fill the whole screen (of about a million pixels) with ads, then when more are uploaded they will slowly begin to replace the old ads, even when the site is popular you can always rely on your ad being here for at least one day, but also, when your ad has been replaced by another, just come back and resubmit it, as often as you like!

So what's in it for you?
At the moment, not a lot. This site is really just an experiment for me at the moment. However I will place some of my own small adverts on the page, not more than 5 at a time though.

Can I add an affiliate link to my advert?
I have no problem with you using your affiliate link in your advert, however your affiliate company might, in-fact I don't think many allow it, I could be wrong though so please check with them first, I don't want to ruin things between you and your affiliate program.

Who are you?
My name is Dave, I graduated from uni in January and now I'm just seeing if I can come up with a few ideas to make some extra cash, maybe to fund a masters degree, also by making websites I'm slowly learning some new things like html and php etc.

What is A banana slug?
The banana slugs (Ariolimax) are a genus of terrestrial mollusk, although when used in the context of a species, "banana slug" invariably refers to the Pacific banana slug (Ariolimax columbianus). Banana slugs are often bright yellow (vaguely resembling a banana) although they may also be green, brown, or white. The Pacific banana slug is the second-largest species of land slug in the world, growing up to 25 cm (9.8 inches) long (the largest slug is Limax cinereoniger of Europe, which can reach 30 cm (12 inches) in length). It is native to the forest floors along the Northern Pacific Coast of North America

As for why I've named this site after a slug, I have no idea :)
