Today I was talking about current events with a group of friends. As a wrestling follower; I mention this year Wrestlemania and the involvement of billionaire Donald Trump. Well, my insights about this event or anything concerning wrestling weren't well taken for one of my friend. He cataloged me as a "stupid" person because of the simple fact that I was a wrestling fan. I kept my cool, but felt awkward while he was babbling about the issue.
I watch wrestling knowing what is the business all about and enjoy it as much as I can. It's fake. If you say so. The matches are surely choreographed, but they are bumping and stunning for real. You see I am no stupid, I know that ha! It takes talent and guts to perform the stunts that they do. And some acting skills as well. Backstage of a wrestling show there is a whole bunch of people working hard to deliver a good show to the audience.
I've been watching wrestling since I am 10 years old, and now here I am graduated from college and still watching it. I am not aggressive at all, neither I enjoy bumping anywhere. I like it because it is entertaining and every person that I know that watches wrestling it's just as smart as any of my college friends. I've meet wrestlers that have taught me more than my psychology professor.
It's really wrong when you judge somebody because he or she do/watch certain stuff. I know wrestling has a certain kind of followers, but I will never say stupid, rather beer drinkers, ;). When stereotypes are used more that one person is hurt and most of the time one makes a mistake. Nobody is completely equal and as well you can expect the unexpected from any given person.
This was just some jerk calling me not a well-educated person, but I know this happens everyday with many people in different scenarios. For those that have been pointed at because of what they do or are; I know the feeling is not sweet and it's really hard to pull it off, but little by little; one has to step up and don't mind about what other say or what other think that is "cool". As Rey Mysterios does; fight against all odds. Don't be scare like the Champ John Cena and show them that you stand up strong like The Undertaker.
