My relatives and family have always asked me how I felt and whether I feel down each time after I resigned from my previous job.
It is not so much what actually happens to me during resignation, but how I view the resignation that matters. When I put a positive spin on negative events, I am more likely to be happier that those who do not. Because when I am happy, I function better. I am healthier and I know that I can be a higher achiever in the next project I am embarking on.
Happiness can mean different things to different people and it is not constant. To expect me to be always on the smile is unrealistic as I live in a world of dualities where I do experience the opposites of feelings and the contradiction of aims and thoughts. The shadow side tends to dip as deeply down as the happiness side has emerged. It will be wonderful if I make it a point to remember to enjoy the moments of happiness without allowing worries or fears to steal away from them.
To prevent my life from turning upside down, I need to be aware of what transports me into the dire straits and how to manoeuver my thoughts and actions towards the pangs of happiness. When I realise what and where happiness could be, I need to translate my search into action. Everyone has a gem of happiness within for it is God-given. So, I find out what triggers my happiness.
To achieve happiness, I ask myself what my authentic self is, what causes me to lose track of time and brings me bliss. For me, it is writing, travel, heritage research, Jesus' resurrection and going for church services that trigger the magic of my happiness for happiness is the spriritual fruit of an enhanced well-being brought about by a healthy lifestyle and a positive outlook towards my daily plans. Gradually, my parents' well-being will also be the temperature of my quality of happiness.
You can turn to happiness when your life turns upside down by finding that magic that triggers and lives in your truth so that you will experience a lot more happiness than when you did not.
To be happy, pay attention to the things that are important to your happiness and prioritise the plans that make you happy. If your children are more important than your work, spend time playing with them. If it is your friends and your family, take time to show you care for them. To me, my parents' well-being will soon soon bring me into focus as I tended to ignore how they felt towards my performance in my previous jobs. I will commit to
