1. Behold. God has something new for us every morning.
1 And after these words God tested Abraham, and said to him, Abraham, and he said, Behold.
Abraham at this stage in his life had gone through some episodes. In fact, he was in a point of tawdry at this particular time. He was temporarily residing in the land of the Palestinians. He would settle, build a well and the some Palestinians would start fights with his servants and claim the wells were theirs. On another occasion, when Abraham had to move his family to Egypt form the land of the Palestinians, because of drought, the Palestinians would destroy all the wells his servants dug before he returned.
Isn't that like the devil? All the devil wants to do is tell the children of God that they are not worthy of anything in life. We see it every day in the media. You brother are a hypocrite. You sister are an "Insane Holy Roller." You church are the "Radical Right!"
You home-schoolers are a bunch of greedy fanatics who do not want to contribute to the well being of your own community. Do you think it was any easier for Abraham?
Abraham, for the most part, passed most of those tests. He had a problem with rlers wanting his wife and for the most part lied and cheated them in order to save hisown skin, but he was indeed a man of faith which was recognized by the author of Hebrews who calls him the "Father of our faith."
Sometimes, however, God wants to really test us, and for Abraham, God wanted to see who was really number one in his life.
