Dating your spouse does not have to include an elaborate dinner date or going to the local theater. Dating your spouse can be done in the comfort and convenience of your home. Let's face it, we all have hectic schedules and deadlines at work we have to meet. We are driving our kids from point A to point B constantly that by the time we get home we are tired and worn out. How do you make time on top of your busy schedule to date your spouse? How do you prioritize your spouses life in conjunction with the responsibilities of your life?
First, stop entertaining the idea that you have to leave the house in order to have a date. There is a common misconception that in order to consider a date a date, you have to actually go out and do something. You don't have to take your spouse out to a fancy restaurant and/or a movie theater. Stay in and cook their favorite dinner while the kids spend the night at their friends house. Earlier in the day stop by the video store and pick up a movie you both have been wanting to see. Then stop by the liquor store and pick up a favorite bottle of wine. Enjoy a nice dinner and movie in the comfort of your own house.
Secondly, you don't have to spend money in order to go on a date. Go to the local park and have a picnic lunch or go for a hike by yourselves and enjoy nature. After the kids have gone to bed at night, sit out on your porch swing and look at the stars and enjoy a favorite drink. Sit down and play a board game together or play a computer game against each other. Flirt with each other on a chat server while playing a game online or in chat rooms. Surprise the other spouse with a foot rub or bubble bath together.
Thirdly, remember that you can still court your spouse. You can still participate in showing off for your spouse or buttering them up. Send your spouse flowers or a gift card at work inviting them out for a night. Take an extra long lunch and get together with your spouse and dine at a favorite restaurant. Make your spouse breakfast in bed once a month delivered by you personally.
Lastly, get out of the house overnight and spend quality time together. Get the grandparents to babysit the kids overnight while you and your spouse go enjoy a bed and breakfast. Sleep in late and spend time without the kids. If you don't have kids, it's still good to get out of the house for a weekend away from chores and other responsibilities. Remember to put your spouse first. We do have jobs and families to keep up with but you do need to show your spouse your spicy side from time to time. In order to keep the romance alive, you need to continue dating your spouse. Show them each and every day through words and actions that they are still the highlight of your life!
