Reflections: Abortion

"Nobody wants to be an unwanted child"
Abortion is a serious decision that a woman makes to abort her baby from her womb. The probability that a woman will have an unplanned pregnancy during her lifetime is fairly high. According to Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Inc., more than six million women in the United States become pregnant every year and just about half of them were accidental. And 1.31 million choose abortion over raising the child. They choose abortion for various reasons, such as the woman is simply unready to become a parent. Having a baby is an expensive process, for some it maybe embarrassing because the woman may not want anyone to know that she had sex. Or a woman could have been a rape victim putting her in an uncomfortable position. There are countless reasons for any woman to have an abortion.

One would think an abortion is very painful and results with excruciating pain. The fact is the woman that has an abortion, suffers cramps, like period pain but a bit stronger. People expect more pain than it really is. During the surgery, the woman is sedated and the patient doesn't feel any of the pain. If the baby is in the first trimester, and the process is done correctly, the baby would not have been fully developed, including her brain. The beginning of the brain stem, which includes a rudimentary thalamus and spinal cord, is only being formed. Most brain cells are not developed. That concludes that when the baby is aborted it wouldn't feel anything.
Abortions should be legal and allowed within the first and second trimester. Some women are really in a need of the procedure. The United States of America is a free country meaning a woman should have a say on her body. I believe that nobody is given the right to tell her what to do with it. In the first and second trimester the baby isn't human yet and is still developing. A woman would want an abortion for various reasons such as she can not afford having a baby or she is too young. Abortion is a personal choice that a woman herself should make given the situation.
On the other hand, the more religious aspect to this is that abortion takes a human life away. I believe this is wrong because as I stated earlier the baby still an embryo and not human yet. The religious aspect to abortion does not give any thought to women that were raped, can not afford a baby, and/or too young.
A woman should have every right in the world to do what she wants with her body. There are various reasons that she chooses to abort her baby. People against abortion should give thought to people who did not choose to be in this situation. If women are forced to carry unwanted pregnancies, the result is unwanted children. "Nobody wants to be an unwanted child."
