Memoirs: Custody battles in family court

by Muneca

SO I am 24 years old and my son is 5! For the first 3 years of his life I battled his own father in court! I did not think that this man was capable of taking care of my child. For me, he had a lot to prove before I would just hand my son to him!
It all started when I had my child. His mother is crazy. she called me in 3 occasions to tell me that she was going to kidnap my child, she got upset with me because my her sons name was not in the paper, she said that my son looked like his fathers best friend ( we did take a DNA test later, to prove that her son was the father, she harassed me for my sons social security number so that she can put it on her section 8 application, and so on and so on! So my sons father did not think that any of this was wrong. He would laugh about it. So she took me to court to try to get custody of my son,it didn't work. so then after a year of him not seeing his son, he seen me out with someone else and all of a sudden I got a court paper telling me that he wanted visitation! Now mind you that I have never said he could not see his son. I told him that he could come over when ever but that I did not want my son around his mother and that I thought he needed to grow up before he could take my son every where! My sons father wasn't the greatest of a person. He has a record about a mile long including drug arrest and all sorts of things! And although that doesn't look to good on my place to get pregnant with this guy, it wasn't expected and I now know better! Aside from it all I have my son and I don't regret him.

ok so we went to court and he got visitation. I didnt fight it because I never denyed him in the first place! He went into court and told them all kinds of things to make me look bad. So I took him to child support! After a month of visitation he got arrested for shooting and I went and into court and filed for an emergency petition to stop visitation. I was just thinking that these people he was shooting would come back and do something to him and my son might be with him. It was all about my sons safety! the first petition got denied, I went in and did it again! This time it was approved and the visitation was moved into a center, just until the whole trail with him was over, at that time we would go back into court and try to find a new schedule!

So Visitation was every Sunday for about 2 hours! after about a month of that my sons father told the agency that he couldn't come to see him anymore because he needed
