Smallville in five words: Best show in the universe. Seriously.

You have an extremely talented young cast in Tom Welling, Kristin Kreuk, Michael Rosenbaum, Allison Mack and Erica Durance. There are also the talented older actors, including John Glover, Annette O'Toole, and, until season five, John Schneider. Smallville is the most believable teen drama on television. Impressive, considering that it is about an alien.

The teenaged Superman story is fascinating. There are, of course, the big names of Clark Kent, Lana Lang, Lex Luthor, and Lois Lane. In a different take, Clark is in love with Lana and they have a relationship, instead of the usual story, which features Lana pining after her best friend, Clark Kent. In Smallville, there is a meteor shower that brings the future superhero to Earth. The meteor rocks are the Kryptonite in Smallville, in another original take on the story. Also, Lex Luthor and Clark Kent are best friends. For a while, anyway.

The show has featured several other DC names. including Pete Ross, Jimmy Olsen, Arthur Curry(Aquaman), Cyborg, Bart Allen(Flash), Oliver Queen(Green Arrow), General Zod, Braniac(on the show, Milton Fine), and Martian Manhunter(sadly, not green). There have been many great guest stars, including Superman himself, Christopher Reeve, and Wonder Woman Lynda Carter. The guest stars are always wonderful, and truly make the show even better.

After just finishing its sixth season, the show is expected to have either seven or eight seasons in all. Be sure to check out this television marvel on the CW.
