one. Maybe it is crunch time at work and you have to put in more hours and more work for a few weeks. Medical intervention for this type of stress can be helpful, but not in the form of a pill. Take the time to find a counselor to talk to, one that is not quick to diagnose a problem and prescribe a drug. Sometimes just a trusted friend will do. Being able to vent and offload your problems will feel like a weight has been lifted. It may give you the boost you need to face another stressing day.
Long term stress is even more unhealthy. There is usually no end in sight, and has probably already been on going for quite some time. Reducing this stress may be difficult to do, but will be beneficial for your overall health. This may require changing jobs, taking a demotion or working less hours. It may require moving to a new location, such as closer to family so they may help, or to a smaller home to free up some finances. It will be a big step, that alone may seem overly stressful, but the long term benefits will outweigh the short term consequences.
Daily stress affects everyone. It's the type of stress that just creeps up on you when you least expect it. It could be an occasional bad day at work, or the children were being uncooperative, or a forgotten bill has gone unpaid. Relieving daily stress and tension is much like relieving anger, there are many ways to do so, it's just a matter of finding what works for you. Here are some tips that may help you find relief:
Remove yourself: Get away from the situation that is stressing you, if possible.
Exercise: It releases hormones inside your body that helps you feel good.
Relax: Meditate, give yourself time outs, take bubble baths and long walks. Play soothing music.
Stay organized: Keeping your home and work space clutter free will help you to feel less overwhelmed.
Tackle one job at a time: Thinking of everything you have to accomplish today is a quick way to stress yourself out. Make a list and only focus on one task a time.
Get outside: It's a proven fact sunshine provides natural "feel good" sensations, so soak it up.
When all else fails, grin and bear it. Take it one moment at a time and keep looking towards the light at the end of the tunnel.
