NBA coaches should not be allowed to recruit high-school athletes prior to the students graduation. The students do not need even more stress and decisions put on them on top of their classes. The coaches should have enough respect for the students to allow them to fully focus on graduating.
Out of all of the high school athletes around the world, very few of them will actually make it to the professional level. The first thing on the students minds should be graduating. Just in case they are one of the many whose dreams of making it to the NBA are shattered, they need something to fall back on and that is very hard to do without an education.
Another reason the coaches have no business recruiting high school kids is the fact that the students have to go to college for at least 1 year before they can enter the NBA. Once the students make the hard choice of deciding which school they want to attend, they have to play for at least 1 year before they can consider the NBA. After they are eligible to enter the NBA they have to declare for the draft. The draft is a complicated process for the teams and the players. The teams record the previous season mostly decides what draft pick they will have in the draft.
An NBA coach would be wasting his time recruiting a high school player because there is no guarantee that they will even be able to draft the player if a team with an earlier pick decides to pick the player. Coaches have every right in the world to scout the players in high school but they have no business recruiting them.
