Every June the same thing, tornado watches and warnings. Every year I tell myself the same thing, "Not one tornado has ever hit where you live". Every year I don't listen to myself.
As soon as the "watch" comes on the screen we are off to the basement with sandwiches, water, soda, and radio. The T.V. is already down there.
I will admit in the last couple of years we have eased the tension by ordering a pizza, I mean, if the Pizza guy will come things can't be too bad. Right? But by in large we still have a pretty tight command post. That's right, we wear helmets-got a comment?
We used to take turns "keeping the watch" while the others slept but finally I had to do all the watching because everbody fell asleep.
This year I'm not going to panic. I'm sick of wasting my life worrying about something I have no control over. What did the T.V just say about a gale?
