Myspace is not a safe internet venue for teens. Its not a safe internet venue for any unsuspecting person.
From what I understand, the sites original intention was to connect people across the world. Helping any person that uses it, gain the ability to meet new people from the comfort of their own homes.
After its launch, the site blew up in the cyber world. People started to share personal information and photographs of themselves, relatives, and friends. Teens also joined to group, and started to share... Literally.
Before you knew it, Myspace was infected with underage teens from every country in the world. They started to share personal information such as: age, grade, school, location etc.
Predators use the information given by Myspace members to piece together the life of their prey. If they feel a piece is missing, then visit their friends. All the information they need is at their fingertips.
If you didn't know any better, you would post any and all information about yourself. But the minute you post any information about yourself on myspace, your page becomes a potential gateway for every stocker in the world with a computer. Most teens don't realize this risk. So they share, and share, and share. Making Myspace an unsafe venue for not only teens, but any unsuspecting person in the world.
