Testimonies: Best and worst bosses

The Best boss I ever worked for was a young lady with a beautiful personality. What made her such a great boss was her magnetic personality her beautiful smile and her upbeat personality.

No matter what the situation was she was always very positive and she was a people person and she listened. She truly looked out for the best interest of her people and she stood by them and backed them if they were correct in their decision making processes.

She would come over first thing in the morning and sit and talk with her associates, about things going on in her own personal life and she would listen to things that were going on in the lives of others.

The performance appraisals she gave were always accurate and positive. Any type of negative feedback was presented in a constructive way.

What was especially great was she always helped to pave the way for her employees to get promoted if she felt it was merited and if not she helped to lay out a game plan regarding how they could get promoted and what specific plan of action they needed to take.

When associates came to work they felt compelled to work hard for someone like her. They did whatever they could to do their jobs effectively and efficiently because ultimately they knew she was accountable and they wanted to make her look good.

It was these things that made her so great to work for.

Now for the other extreme. I remember working for a boss who never spoke to his staff. He would come in and head right for his office. One day he came out of his office and just started screaming at the credit correspondents for a task they were handling. It would not have been so bad if he had had some sort of communication with them about why they should not be doing that task. But he came out with no warning whatsoever.

He did nothing to help his people get promoted. He never smiled and was always in a low key mode. There was no excitement, enthusiasm or passion within this individual.

Whenever he did have to speak with employees he would get really nervous and his hands started trembling.

What a striking difference between he and the good boss.
