Football fans of today argue 'my team is better than yours' 'my team has won more titles than your team'. Fans of today focus to much on success and are forgetting what football really is,entertainment. I for one would much rather watch my team play a stylish game to the best of their ability and lose than to see them play a boring defensive game and win on penalties, i mean hay there's alway next year to perfect there skills a bit more and gain success with style.
For example take this years F.A cup final between Man utd and Chelsea, it wasn't until in to the second half that both teams actually started playing 'real' football.
Up until then I just felt like going out and doing something else because I was so bored. Also the recent England vs Brazil, that was a friendly a game for fun and practice, And for most of the game england played defensive. There was no emphasis on attack lets get a goal and show the fans what we can really do. The big question is what is fun about watching to teams cancel each other out.
Teams today re lie on set-pieces and strikers that can do it all, when everyone really knows that if you play hard in midfield and always go on the attack you only need strikers to put in the rebounds or to penetrate then defense. Managers of today are overusing the 5-4-1 formation unlike a decade or two ago when the more offensive formations were used like 4-3-3.
Overall todays football lacks flare and in my opinion if football carries on the way it is, it will go from the beautiful game to the dull game.Do we spend to much time looking to one player for style? (e.g ronaldo). Is the flame slowly burning out?
