as one.
The big question I have battled through, most often in my deep search for self-discovery, is how much is "set" or fated. I see the world as a play with a set time or date, (setting) set biological circumstances ( who we are born to and thus come from) and set environment factors- (1st world vs. 3rd world ). Like a script being assigned to an actor - "you are going to be playing Danielle, born 6/28/75 in NJ, US." Yet we have the freewill to develop the character. The combination of the set biological circumstances and your freewill to deal with them make the "unique self". A certain realization or epiphany comes when you understand that even though you are only one- you are important to the whole of mankind- and it's saga.
It is when we can step away from the play or scene from time to time, do we see that we are in control. We may feel like a marionette- but only become one when we never step away from the role. We have the freewill to respond to life in any way we want. We cannot control what it throws at us, like the actor in a play not liking he is going to die in the next scene. But we can control our performance, we can whine and groan and put on a bad scene, or we can go out with a bang- knowing we played the part to the fullest.
It makes me think of Rosa Parks, God rest her beautiful determined soul. Her character was so great that it sent ripples through the world. She stood firm in her beliefs and convictions. I believe this is what the soul strives for, it strives for the evolutionary whole- not just where we are right now- but the past, present and future as one. She knew things had to change, and held on to that truth with conviction. I believe her soul lives and becomes even stronger, more evolved in some way. Like a graduation in school, A master's degree in life perhaps. Unfortunately too many of us are still in Kindergarten and still have not learned how to share.
