Benefits of de-toxing for fitness and health

De-toxing means removing unwanted chemicals from your body. It's not hard to believe that between the pesticides used on plants, the chemicals and growth hormones involved in the factory farm raising of animals, and the things allowed in and added to water (that includes bottled water, which has less strict regulations for sanitizing than tap water), we've got a lot of bad things built up.

Your body's system, given time without being fed such things, will flush the chemicals out, leaving a healthier, happier you. The effects will not only be inward; your body will shape up, your skin will look clearer and have a healthy glow, and you'll have more energy in general!

1. Waking up in the morning: Are you a morning person? Most people aren't. And coffee is a pretty common way to wake up in the morning. If you use strong black tea, coffee, or energy drinks to wake up in the morning, you more than likely have a caffeine addiction, which leads to headaches when your body's craving more.
There's a far healthier way to wake up, and it works better than caffeine: a fresh, cool apple! Yep, it's true, and if you don't believe me, try it yourself. The hard crunch, moisture, and natural sugar in apples makes them perfect for a pleasant jolt into the daytime. And, of course, there's no crash. Not to mention it's a good breath freshener, and easier than brewing a pot of coffee.

2. Foods: First off, I ain't knockin' meat. Boneless, skinless chicken breasts are cheap and healthy. You can turn them into BBQ chicken, buffalo, lemon parsley or something...whatever! I highly recommend, though, looking for organic chicken, cuz those toxins are still in there otherwise. Try searching Google or checking out www.whfoods.org for other meats that can be a big part of a healthy diet.
Now obviously, every kid's archnemisis resides in the leafy, green vegetable. Don't worry about it! You may find you really enjoy having these things. If you like green beans, sugar snap peas, etc, then throw some on the stove. (Personally, I think "snapping" them, that is, removing the ends before cooking, is fun.) Asparagus, broccoli, squash, bell peppers, and cucumbers are also all great for you.
To get yourself accustomed to eating things like kale and romaine lettuce, drench them in your favorite salad dressing and add stuff like sunflower seeds and croutons. Slowly add less and less dressing each time you have a salad, until you're at a moderate amount and enjoying it!
Fruit, in its many forms, can be a scrumptious
