The sale of natural remedies and supplements should be placed under the FDA's remit. A lot of these products are about as effective as using leaches and spells. There is a useful side to the natural alternative therapy market but there are too many charlatans out there.
How can companies sell products that are little more than the same old products that were sold by Medicine Shows and Snake Oil Salesmen in the 19th Century. If traditional medicines are extensiely tested prior to sale then why shouldn't the natural/herbal remedies.
Surely the government should protect the public from the harmful effects that these products ould have. Does it take deaths and serious side effects to get something done? Then there are the outlandish claims made by the people who peddle the products. These usually lead to people being taken in and scalped of their money.
Something needs to be done and soon.
