Why men (secretly) love to dance

If you wonder why men secretly love to dance, but then hesitate when faced with the opportunity, join the crowd. As young men mature into adulthood, their lack of familiarity with the dance floor fuels an insecurity that denies them the willingness to dance, even though they want to. This ranks high on the list of typical male inhibitions, in this writers opinion.

Learning life's lessons of what is expected by society, men are exposed to competitive sports, and physical contests that display prowess, and masculinity. With the hormonal changes of puberty, natural instincts lead young men to discover their feminine counterparts. However, they are not prepared for the terrors of putting their status as a man on display on the dance floor. Insecurity may overrule their desire to participate in dancing with the ladies, but eventually the social aspect will likely inspire reluctant dancers to join the fun.

Men love dancing because of the physical interaction with his dance partner, but hate that someone may be ridiculing their lack of expertise dancing. Guys like to do the things that they know that they are good at, and dancing is unfamiliar territory. Most men have a true love/hate relationship with dancing. They hate the thought of putting themselves on display in a potentially inept way, but love the time spent with their ladies once the inhibitions have been shed.

Denying any desire to dance is a convenient defense that inhibited men use to protect themselves from the terror of the dance floor. Don't believe their denials, because they are setting the stage for letting themselves be talked into dancing. Once they are satisfied that no expectations of expertise exist, they will succumb to their real desire to socially interact with the ladies. With maturity most men become comfortable enough with who they are that insecurities no longer dictate their behavior. There is hope for the dancer inside of the man to break loose and add one more activity to the list of things to go out and do.
