Recipes: Simple good cooking

Addictive Anzac slices

Something that will become a family favorite. Makes around 30 and you can keep them for at least four days.

What to get - Half a cup of Desiccated Coconut, 1 cup of Rolled Oats, 1 Cup of Flour, 1 cup of firmly packed brown sugar, 125 grams of butter, Half a tablespoon of bicarbonate of soda, 1 tablespoon of water, 2 tablespoons of golden syrup.

* Turn the oven on to 160 degrees C.
* Grease a baking tray.
* Put the oats, flour, sugar and coconut in a large bowl and mix together.
* Chop the butter.
* Put a medium sized saucepan on the hob and turn to medium heat.
* Put the butter, golden syrup and water into the pan and stir till the butter has melted.
* Take the pan off the hob and put on a board [to protect your surfaces].
* Add the bicarbonate of soda [It should froth and bubble]
* Pour this mixture into the oat mixture and stir until it is all stuck together in a ball.
* Sprinkle the mixture evenly into the tray and press into shape with your hands.
* Once it is all spread evenly put in the oven for 20 - 30 minutes. [it should look firm]
* Take out of the oven and leave for around 15 minutes to cool.
* Cut into slices.
* Eat them all up!

Other ideas: Use Maple Syrup . Chocolate Chip pieces . Different types of fruit . or anything else that you might like.
