Be sure not to leave your account inactive for long periods of time, or these earnings will disappear into the air around you, as per your writing agreement here with Helium. Monies are paid to you once a month on or around the tenth of the month.

Oh, and don't forget to rate the works of your peers here at Helium, if you maintain five writing stars you will be paid a $3.00 bonus each month. The rating of articles is also what keeps Helium's system running smoothly. Rating is just as important as Writing is to the health of Helium so don't forget to rate a couple articles for each one that you write.

A WORD OF WARNING:
If you are a terrible speller like myself and constantly in need of that most wonderful of all inventions - the spell checker, trust me when I say, don't trust it. You may be, like myself, a speller so bad that even spell checker cannot figure out what you are trying to say. Don't screw up an amazing article by trusting spell check to give you the correct word to replace your much flawed original.

I learned this all too quickly when I leapfrogged an article to put in the title of the article, "The Internet Opening Doors For The Disabled". I know the darn title was there when I started writing the article but, like most little things in my world, I somehow managed to misplace it along the way. So I briefly flipped through my article, changing a few words here and there as I went, then I hit spell check. The word looked right so I clicked it and it went. Then I published, my now almost perfect article up and ready, for the world to view.

I went in one more time to browse its brilliance and stopped, mouth hanging open, re-reading that all too awful line time and time again. "My sister and I were integrated by the thought" Integrated? Integrated! What the heck is that doing there? The word was supposed to intrigued! Intrigued not integrated! Stupid spell check! Stupid me for not noticing and for actually trusting spell check to understand what my fuzzy brain was trying to say.

DO NOT TRUST SPELL CHECK. Double verify that what it is putting in there is what you meant to say. Especially as a lot of times by the time you spell check the words are popping up at you and you are not too sure anymore of where or in what context they were originally placed.

Trust spell check only as much as you trust your own spelling skills, which in my case, indicates the mandatory use of a dictionary in the placing of any words over 6 characters in length.
