Men and women view dancing in a very different way. Women see dancing as a chance to have let their hair down and have fun with their friends. Men are more likely to see dancing as a competition, whether that competition is to out-dance their peers, turning it into somewhat of a sport, or whether it is to be the one who gets the girl at the end of the night, with all the best moves, making it yet another male mating ritual.
For those men who see dancing as a sport, they see all the competitions based on different dancing styles and to men, if there is a competition based on it, then it must be some sort of sport. This means dancing must in fact also fit under the category of sport and we all know how much men pride themselves on being good at all sports. Therefore, as a chance to reign supreme in yet another sport-like event, men love the oppurtunity to out dance their opponents.
While this is not true for all men, many love to dance, even if they do not admit it, because men love to look good. They love to compete in everything they do and this includes dancing. They see another man dancing and think to themselves that they can do better. Of course they can do better. In their minds they can do anything better. That is all part of their male exaggeration process.
Men are also very animalistic creatures. They believe that women love a man who can dance and therefore they often use it as a type of mating ritual. They think that if they look great on the dance floor, this will make you think they are great in bed, so of course they are getting lucky tonight. In this sense, men are quite similar to a male peacock, fanning their tails out to attract a females attention. Their dancing works in this same look-at-me manner. The man who can shake his booty the best is of course the one who is going home with the girl that night.
Men also love music. They will never admit it, but when you are not looking, they will let the music control them, and jump around the lounge like 10 year old girl girls at a slumber party. They will dance in front of the mirror and just let lose in a way that they would never let you see, let alone dare to do in public. So dancing in public is a small release to their bigger dancing urges and letting themselves feel the music.
So next time your man pretends he does not want to dance, be sure to point out all the other men on the dance floor, brave enough to let their moves loose on the dance foor and comment on how sexy it is. He will be up there in seconds to ensure that he reigns supreme in the sport of dancing!
