Why are we as parents obsessed with wanting to be good at what we do? Its as if we are grading self on our ability to parent? And how are we measuring our performance? Is it by how our child turned out? Or is it by the degree of effort? If by degree of effort, how are we assessing effort?
Here's a novel idea. Why not eliminate the clutter of " I'm a good parent" to a parent who loves unconditionally without judgment and with the best interests of our child's temperament and need. I'm suggesting we can't measure good. Case in point: My sister and I have turned out well both personally and professionally but my late brother was a drug addict until the day he was killed in a car accident 30 years. So, does this mean my parents were two-thirds effective. Does does mean my parents earned a paltry grades of D+ as parents!
