Superman versus Batman. Or is it the superhero versus the human? The debate between who would win a fight between Superman and Batman has been ongoing. There has been massive support for both sides of this argument, but personally, I believe Batman would win against Superman.
Realistically, this sort of fight should never actually take place. Afterall, both Superman and Batman are fighting on the side of good and not evil, so why on earth would they want to fight at all? Unless their super hero status got the better of them and their egos took over.
However, I think that while Supermans super powers do make him an exceptional competitor, and give him some what of an advantage, I also believe this exact advantage could also work as a disadvantage as well. Superman cannot withstand the effects of kryptonite. In fact, prolonged exposure will kill him. This is perhaps one of the few ways to kill Superman easily, but it is a very quick way if that was someone's intention.
Batman on the other hand can put up a good fight, has so many gadgets working in his favour, which have taken him from average hard done by kid, to super hero. However, being human, there is exact weapon of defence against Batman. He has no kryptonite type weaknesses to kill him easily. Instead, his only weakness is also his strength: Mortality.
Batman has discovered ways to outwit all of his enemies so far, by developing ways to protect him against his morality. He has built a bullet-proof suit to prevent him for everyday weapons. He has developed gadgets to make him fly right out of danger. And has a great variety of transport to speed him to safety whenever the need arises.
Superman on the other hand is strong, can fly without assistance and can jump out of the way of a speeding bullet. But expose him to kryptonite and he is a goner. So really, if Batman wanted to win the fight, he could do so with ease. When he is not Batman, he is Bruce Wayne: a powerful, rich and intellegent individual. When Superman is not not Superman, he is merely Clark Kent. The awkward, fumbling journalist who does not exibit the same social skills and general intellegence Batman posesses.
I have always found Superman to be a somewhat lucky superhero. Lucky because he does not often seem to have the intellegence to avoid misfortune. Just the luck and the strength to get himself and others out of a bad situation. Yet his lifespan always seemed limited simply because it seemed like any moment he would make the mistake to lose the fight. Batman does not have this short-term fate. Instead he thinks each situation through and always makes the right decision, very rarely getting himself into a situation that cannot be avoided or escaped with relative ease.
So overall, if the fight between Batman and Superman did take place, despite their status of both being heroes for good... then Batman would reign supreme and win the fight!
