I think that there are a few reasons to why people purchase knock-off purses.
The first is, peope are just following trends but like many of us, can't financially keep up with the quickly changing designer bag trends. Because of this, they opt to buy fakes in order to appease this want to be trendy. In this case, even if the purse you are carrying is of the latest trend, it definitely doesn't feel the same as carrying the real thing, and people will most likely know that its fake.
Secondly, people have a genuine love for designer bags but, again like many of us can't afford to purchase them, leading them to purchase the knock-offs. Some spend considerable amounts of money purchasing what they call A-quality knock-offs which save them at least 70% of the price of the real thing. Even though you have a really good looking fake that can't be detected by an untrained eye, was the $200 really worth it? I never purchase knock-offs because it just doesn't feel right. I rather wait ten years and save up for the real thing (and hope that by that time I won't want it anymore), or just come to a realization that it will never be mine.
And lastly, they just don't know better. Some people don't think that the actual price for the real thing is worth it, and that by finding a knock-off they are getting 'a good deal.' What they don't realize is that the real thing actually is better in terms of quality. If you had the money to purchase one designer bag, you will realize that the durability of it will outlast any of your other bags that you got a 'good deal' on.
