With the technology that is out today, many people have a hard time acquainting themselves it. More and more people are using computers today than ever. With this rise in computer usage, the computer can sometimes be overused and abused. Spyware and virus's clog the computers, but this is not what I will be talking about. People are trying desperately to speed up their computers any way they can. When you start windows XP there are a lot of programs that also start up that you may not think are slowing down your computer. By disabling them during startup, you can increase the startup speed time, and also your entire computer performance. Here are a few tips on getting a little quicker startup time for Windows XP.
1) When you turn on your computer and Windows XP is done loading, go to the start menu.
2) Click on the run button
3) type msconfig in the box and hit the enter key
4) a new box comes up that has a tab called startup. Click this tab
5) most of the programs in the list are checked normally. Checked means that they will start up when Windows starts up and unchecked means they won't.
6) uncheck the boxes that you don't want to start when you boot XP. In most cases you only really need your virus software to start up with your computer.
7) click on apply and then restart your computer
You should notice a big difference if you had a lot of boxes checked.
