The question of when life begins and ends can not be decided and scholars from both sides have debated the issue for decades. However the issue of abortion isn't just about the choice of the women but rather what is truly best for the child. The child seems to get the least amount of attention in the fight over abortion. If the child were to be born to a mother who was forced to have the child would it be taken care of? Chances are the mother didn't want it before the birth she won't want it after. Why should lawmakers force women to have children they don't want? Why should children be born to parents who don't love them? This is not fair to the child. It should be a child's right to have the opportunity to be loved and cared for, and would this happen if the mother didn't want the baby? The child will ultimately suffer and pay for the decision of the government to force the mother to have the child by not letting her have an abortion.
Assuming the mother is forced to have the child and still doesn't want it she could put it up for adoption some argue. If the child is put up for adoption they will have serious issues dealing with the reality that their parents didn't want them. A child should never feel unwanted. The adoption system and foster care system is already overloaded and isn't truly the best for a child. The people who help with the foster care system should be commemorated for the work they do because it is truly amazing how they can care for so many different children. However lawmakers shouldn't hurt this system by sending thousands of more children into it.
To anyone that says abortion is murder should really rethink that no one person can determine when life begins because there is evidence to support both sides. Rather then try and argue when it begins, look to the child's future and what kind of life they will be living. Will they being traveling around from foster care parent to orphan homes their whole life, never really feeling wanted and loved. Is this the life they should live or would you want them to live that way. To bring a child into the world that doesn't support them is equal to "murdering" them before they are born. For these reasons the mother should have the right to choose what will be best for the child's life not only her own.
