It is easy for those who have not been members of the armed forces to find fault in benefits given or suggested for past members. Although it is true that there are benefits in having been a member of the armed forces, it is not true that veterans earn enough or receive enough to be able to afford a college education for their children. It is a fact that rank has its privileges, and for this reason, not all members of the military are allowed base housing. That means that most low ranking members, whether enlisted or officer, must find housing in the local economy. Not being able to afford better, they usually must opt for poor quality homes or apartments. There is another saying in the military, "Three moves and you are broke". That means that once you move three times a savings account is but a dream. It must be nice to sit at home in safety and find fault in those of us who faced danger just to be able to eke out a life. Also, have you noticed that most military members lately are minorities. These people volunteer for the military to be able to have a life in the future, If there is a future. A civilian living in the economy has the help of friends and family and can earn and save for a future for themselves and their children. A military member depends on the assistance of the government only. I, therefore, do not understand the individual who can find so much fault in those placing themselves in danger and financial hardship to protect the lives of those who find so much fault.
