While we should do as little as possible to support the needless waste of lives, the sad fact is that men and women will go to war, they'll do what they feel is right for their people, their country, and when they return, they'll be devastated by what they have seen.
I've seen it happen, first-hand, people come back from wars different. Maybe they survived without any physical injuries, not missing limbs, or anything, but a war gives you a new perspective on how things work, and some of them? They just give up, the horrors of war are too much for some people, because it's the most horrible thing that still exists in modern times, a barbaric throwback of bloody days.
I wish we could stop it, but we can't, not yet, and while we do we need to think of the troops.
Maybe they'll adjust and get a job, and a normal life, but that's too much to hope for every time. There's a current bias against military people, against troops, here in the US at least. Even if you don't support the war, however, and I don't, you have to support the troops who fight in the wars, because they're your neighbors, friends, brothers. They're people of your country, and you owe them your friendship. We all do.
We need to take care of their families. If their children will go to college, maybe they can help be the cure, the permanent cure, to war.
After all, they'll know what it does to people.
