How many things does race play a part in? Neighborhoods? Jobs? Relationships? Education? All of them, believe it or not, are all racially biased aspects of society. Even though none of them should be. The cold hard truth slaps us all in the face at least once in our lifetime. Either we ourselves, or someone we know has had an issue of some sort pertaining to race.
Were you looked at differently because you spoke to someone from a different race than you? Did someone get a job or benefits that you were equally qualified for, but didn't get simply because of your skin color? Imagine the possibility that you were denied the one thing that meant living as opposed to just existing.............
Your education. To be deprived of something so crucial, not because your test scores didn't measure up, but because your skin color was too light or too dark. Then to have to venture out into a world as cold and dark as today's world knowing that you were shunned because of something so irrelevant as color.
People are people, regardless as to the color of their skin. There should be no emphasis placed on color when college admissions are considered. If a person has the right academic credentials, and are willing to give their education the utmost, they should be given the opportunity and the right to follow through with whatever educational means available.
As far as race is concerned, there is and should only be one race, and that is the Human Race.
