The Bible's perceptions of colored people

No matter what way people twist around the words of the Old Testament, the Bible does not instruct us to think of colored people differently, and certainly not to treat them any differently. There are, I confess, some statements based on the cultural ideals of the time and place in which the Old Testament books were written. This does not mean, however, that the Bible was encouraging these behaviors, but simply saying that they happened in the past. Furthermore, we do not live under this old covenant! We are living in a time of the new covenant seal by Christ's blood. I'm not just pulling this idea out of thin air, but straight from the Word of God!

Read Galatians 3:28 - "There are neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus."

Right there, summed up in that verse is how Jesus wants us to treat our fellow man (or woman). We are all equal... no matter our religion, our social position, our gender... anything. We are all one.

Look again in John 17:22 - "I have given the the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one".

Jesus wants all people to be equal and united, because He died for all of us. Jesus DID NOT die for just white people, He DID NOT die for just black people, He DID NOT die for just oriental people, He DID NOT die for just middle eastern people... "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that WHOEVER believes in him shall not perish, but receive eternal life." (John 3:16)

Jesus' entire ministry was about seeking the people that society rejected. He loved those that the rest of the world hated. He blessed those who were different, those who didn't quite follow the crowd. Jesus commanded His disciples (that includes us), "I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you." (John 13:15)

So what is the Bible's perceptions of people of different ethnicities and races? We are all equal. There is no difference... we were all created by God for the purpose of coming to know Him and living out the plan He has for our life.
