Ethics in the workplace

What are the work ethics that you find to be valuable? I'm sure every individual, in this country have morals or ethics, by which they follow. These do not only pertain to your career, but in every aspect of ones life including your relationships, the raising of your children, how we interact with our friends, and so forth.

I believe in certain areas of ones life these ethics may be set a bit higher then in others, but should they all be the same? Is your life and all that it includes important, or are there certain aspects more important then others?

I would like to take this time to primarily focus on the ethics we hold pertaining to our lively hood, the way we receive a paycheck each week, bi-weekly, or monthly. There are those, who do not set their standards high enough when it comes to their careers, and in their mind this maybe justifiable, they may view the current employment status as a temporary fix until they can find a job that they can be passionate about. On the other hand though, there are those who are commuting to work everyday doing what they enjoy, and yet, really do not have any morals of value within them. I personally, find this a bit hard to believe, especially if they are in the environment they have chosen and wanted to proceed further in. I suppose, this all depends on the individual though and their own ethics in job force.

Personally for me, my code of conduct and ethics for my job are incredibly high. I work with others on a daily basis and when I walk into the office I am dressed very professional, my cloths have been pressed, my hair is neat and clean, and my face does not look like I am going to attend a rock concert. There is always a smile on my face when I greet my patient, because right then in that moment, what is happening to them and in their lives, is more important then anything else. My primary concern is to put a smile on their face and hopefully help them to feel better, even if only for a few minutes.

During the day events, I keep my mind focused on my job and what is I am doing. I feel this is a must, because I administer medications, injections and draw blood and if I made one careless error, I could cause immense damage to someone, or even kill them! That is something I never want that on my conscious.

It is my opinion that you should never bring your personal life to work with you; I say this because, you can really get side tracked if you are focusing on other problems
