to cause division between, friend and work colleague, mother and child, officers and crew in the name of loyalties to someone else's ideal.

It is a tale of brinkmanship, treachery and revenge, of sabotage and poisonings, of self sacrifice and selfishness of the use of faith and belief, of philosophy and trust, of love and lovers, to manipulate and corrupt, of inter-planetary benevolence and genocide in varying proportions, of galactic, global and personal betrayal.

The exploitation and slavery of the less technologically and perhaps, socially advanced are not new themes, they have been played out in the past, the present and the, as B5 universe, shows us, in this fictional future, it is also shows us that these drives, foibles, weaknesses, the ambition, misplaced loyalties and ties, blood oaths, greed and ego are perhaps not just the sole preserve of humankind.

Straczynski has given us a series which not only reflects current events almost to the point of prescience, it has been thought provoking, humbling, revolutionary, and he has broke the tension of the gravity of the plot by placing the characters not only in great peril but also in some very amusing and funny situations and some great pieces of dialogue.
Despite the expediential rate of computing power since this series was completed, the special effects of spaceflight are still some of the most realistic and contemporary of the genre.

The Babylon 5 Series is a technologically decorated spiritual quest for understanding between different conscience entities, to find out about themselves and others and the differences and similarities that lie between friends and enemies.
To discover that, the need to evolve beyond the bonding to false ideal, to get away from the illusion of what has gone before chains us to what will be, or to paraphrase the Centauri Emperor Turhan, the past merely comforts us, the present disturbs us and the future frightens us, and to adopt the mind set that, as Ambassador Delenn would say, faith manages.

This DVD Series is comprised of twenty-two episodes over six DVD's contained in a multi-compartmented box, which slides into an outer cover and a small booklet containing the running order.

Main Menu
This consists of a simple morphing graphic of the lead characters faces. It is somewhat primitive compared to some of the menus offered on DVD's and it looks very Amigaesque.

Special Features
This is limited to a very brief video introduction to the DVD series by its creator Straczynski.
