Superman

In a major battle between Superman and Batman, two of my favorite superheroes of all time, the scale tips toward Superman. Based on the mythology of both characters, it's inevitable that Superman would win this fight. His character is truly a superhero by nature, an alien from another planet with extraordinary powers. As with Batman, he is still just a mortal man, dressed up with toys to fight against his enemies. Yet underneath it all he still is just a man. I won't deny the incredible intensity surrounding this superhero, and he still fights for good, but not enough to withstand the man of steel.

One of my favorite scenes that raises the subject of these comic book heroes is in the movie, Kill Bill Vol. 2. Quentin Tarantino writes a monologue that David Carridine recites as to why Superman is the better superhero. It pretty much gets narrowed down to the fact that he was born that way. "Superman didn't become Superman. Superman was born Superman. When Superman wakes up in the morning, he's Superman. His alter ego is Clark Kent...Batman is actually Bruce Wayne, Spiderman is actually Peter Parker. When that character wakes up in the morning he's actually Peter Parker..." A brilliant monologue that truly explains why Superman is the more incredible of the superheroes, because he was born that way. He's bringing ultimate power, and even though I do love Batman, he just couldn't withstand the ultra violet eye beams, steel body frame, etc. Superman would fly circles around Batman, literally.
