Over The Hedge is an animated film about a group of animals living in the wild who wake from hibernation in their little log in the forest. The group consists of a turtle, a squirrel, a porcupine family, a skunk and some possums. As they stretch their legs and start to look for food they discover that someone has grown a giant hedge through their forest taking away most of their food supply. However even worse is that over the hedge are hundreds and hundreds of houses. Houses means humans, and humans and wild animals don't exactly go well together, the hedge spells trouble!
The group must work really hard to find enough food to fill up their log to last them through next winter before its time to hibernate again. If this wasn't enough of a problem along comes RJ the racoon who promises them more food than they can imagine and it's in plentiful supply only problem is they have to go over the hedge to get it. But RJ despite being very charming is also very cunning. The truth is he owes Vincent the bear a lot of food because he accidentally destroyed Vincent's stash of food when he was trying to steal it. RJ decides to use the other animals to help him gather the food so that before Vincent comes looking for him.
Will the animals be brave enough to go over the hedge? Will RJ get enough food to payback Vincent? Will wise Verne the turtle work out what RJ is up to? Will the animals get into trouble, adventure and lots of fun you bet!
The Characters
===============
RJ RJ is the raccoon voiced by Bruce Willis. It was interesting to see Bruce Willis play a very different role from his usual films. RJ is used to life on his own, he's never experienced being part of a family. He is charming but also a con-man. He is prepared to use the animals to get his food.
Verne He is the dependable turtle, voiced by Gary Shandling. He is very cautious and is afraid of change, he gets a tingly tail if he's not sure about something. But he is wise and he looks out for all his friends who he sees as his family.
Hammy Voiced by Steve Carrell (the newsreader in Bruce Almighty) he is a squirrel who is hyperactive, loves food, is very loyal to his friends and is just a fun-loving kind of guy.
Stella Stella is the loud-mouthed skunk voiced by Wanda Sykes. She brings a great comic aspect to the role, she says what she thinks and says her piece before anyone gets the chance to put her down about being a smelly skunk.
Ozzie and Heather They are father and daughter Possums and are voiced by William
