Benefits of Table Top Role-Playing Games.

Role playing games gain be a great benefit top those that play them for many reasons. They teach team work problem solving as well as morality teachings.

There have been many over the years the like to label things good, evil, satanic, oculist. To be fair which these type of people rarely are, all things can be said to have the problems. If one obsesses over anything then there is a chance for mis-use. In an age where the school systems are graduating more and more illiterate people I find it amazing that we still try to label D&D and other role-playing games as anything but educational. They teach many skills but the one in the fore of everything people will tell you is reading and reading comprehension.

In an age where most kids stay at home and play games consoles and television with mostly family or a single friend, the role player has to meet several people and interact with them for hours at a time. In situations that can be stressful and imperative they have to work out puzzles complicated teamwork to survive.

In short this is what you get from role-playing.

1. Reading Comprehension skills.
2. History lessons.
3. Government lessons.
4. Theology lessons.
5. Problem Solving Skills both with a group and alone.
6. Math Practice.
7. Logic Practice.
8. Socialization skills.

These are a few of the benefits that I can say of the top of my head. When you start to look deeply into the field you can see many other advantages. I think that role-playing is a useful tool for teaching as well a game for fun. Now that I am older though my question to my readers is this.

What better way is there to teach our children important life skills than to make it enjoyable.
